Fox ESS CQ7 7.02kWh Slave Battery – CQ7-S

The Fox ESS CQ7 7.02kWh Slave Battery (CQ7-S) expands a compatible Fox ESS CQ7 high-voltage battery stack. Each Slave adds 7.02kWh nominal capacity and operates under the system controller / BMS contained within the CQ7-M Master battery.

  • 7.02kWh nominal capacity per module
  • 90% Depth of Discharge
  • Internal battery heating in every module
  • IP65 rated for indoor or outdoor installation
  • 12-year manufacturer warranty

Important: The CQ7-S Slave battery cannot operate alone. Every CQ7 stack requires 1x CQ7-M Master battery, with Slave batteries added to reach the required capacity.

Battery sizing varies by inverter: Single-phase H1-G2, AC1-G2 and KH systems require 2-7 batteries. Three-phase H3 Smart systems require 3-12 batteries; H3 Pro requires 4-12 batteries per stack and supports up to 2 stacks; and H3 Plus requires 4-14 batteries per stack and supports up to 3 stacks. Each stack requires its own Master battery.

Fox ESS CQ7 7.02kWh Slave Battery – CQ7-S

Expand a high-performance Fox ESS CQ7 battery system with the Fox ESS CQ7 7.02kWh Slave Battery. Designed for compatible Fox ESS high-voltage hybrid and AC-coupled inverters, the CQ7 uses safe lithium iron phosphate (LiFePOโ‚„) battery chemistry in a modular, floor-standing design.

Each CQ7-S Slave battery adds 7.02kWh nominal capacity to a compatible CQ7 stack. The Slave does not contain the system controller / BMS and must operate under a CQ7-M Master battery.

Important: The CQ7-S Slave battery cannot operate on its own. Every CQ7 stack requires exactly 1x CQ7-M Master battery, with the supported number of CQ7-S Slave batteries added in series.

Compatibility: CQ7 system size depends on the connected Fox ESS inverter. Always check the exact inverter model, firmware and current Fox ESS compatibility guidance before ordering.

Included in Kit

  • 1x Fox ESS CQ7 7.02kWh Slave Battery

Not included: This product does not include the CQ7-M Master battery or its integrated system controller / BMS. A Master is required in every CQ7 stack.

Fox ESS CQ7 Battery Sizing and Scalability

The minimum and maximum number of CQ7 batteries varies depending on the connected Fox ESS inverter:

Inverter Batteries per Stack Maximum Stacks Maximum Capacity
H1-G2, AC1-G2 and KH
Single phase
Minimum: 2
Maximum: 7
1 49.14kWh
H3 Smart
Three phase
Minimum: 3
Maximum: 12
1 84.24kWh
H3 Pro
Three phase
Minimum: 4
Maximum: 12 per stack
2 168.48kWh
H3 Plus
Three phase
Minimum: 4
Maximum: 14 per stack
3 294.84kWh

How the stacks are built: Every stack requires 1x CQ7-M Master battery, with CQ7-S Slave batteries added to reach the required stack size. Therefore, a two-battery stack contains 1x Master and 1x Slave; a three-battery stack contains 1x Master and 2x Slaves; and a four-battery stack contains 1x Master and 3x Slaves.

Multiple stacks: H3 Pro can support up to two stacks and H3 Plus can support up to three. Each separate stack requires its own Master battery. Larger stacks may require the optional Fox ESS base to split the modules into two columns.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Fox ESS CQ7 Slave Battery?
The Fox ESS CQ7-S is a 7.02kWh high-voltage LiFePOโ‚„ Slave battery module used to increase the capacity of a compatible CQ7 battery stack. It operates under the system controller / BMS contained within the CQ7-M Master battery.
Can the CQ7 Slave battery work on its own?
No. Every working CQ7 stack requires exactly 1x CQ7-M Master battery. The CQ7-S Slave battery is added to the Master and cannot operate as a standalone battery system.
What is the difference between the CQ7 Master and Slave batteries?
Both provide 7.02kWh nominal battery capacity, but the CQ7-M Master also contains the system controller / BMS required to manage the stack. The CQ7-S Slave adds storage capacity and operates under the Master.
How much usable capacity does each CQ7 Slave provide?
Each CQ7-S provides 7.02kWh nominal capacity. At the stated 90% Depth of Discharge, this is approximately 6.32kWh of usable capacity.
How many CQ7 batteries can be connected?
The permitted number depends on the connected inverter. Single-phase H1-G2, AC1-G2 and KH systems require 2-7 batteries in one stack. Three-phase H3 Smart systems require 3-12 batteries in one stack. H3 Pro requires 4-12 batteries per stack and supports up to two stacks. H3 Plus requires 4-14 batteries per stack and supports up to three stacks.
Does every CQ7 stack need a Master battery?
Yes. Each separate CQ7 stack requires exactly one CQ7-M Master battery. All additional modules within that stack are CQ7-S Slave batteries.
Does the Fox ESS CQ7 include battery heating?
Yes. Every Fox ESS CQ7 Master and Slave battery module includes internal battery heating for improved low-temperature operation.
Can the Fox ESS CQ7 be installed outdoors?
Yes. The CQ7 is IP65 rated and designed for indoor or outdoor floor-standing installation. The installation location must still comply with Fox ESS guidance, including requirements for a hard, level surface and protection from unsuitable environmental conditions.
Can I add a CQ7 Slave battery to an existing system?
Yes, subject to the connected inverter’s battery limits and Fox ESS expansion requirements. The existing and new modules must be closely matched for state of charge, and Fox advises checking the age of any additional module before installation.
What warranty is included with the Fox ESS CQ7?
The Fox ESS CQ7 battery range includes a 12-year manufacturer warranty, subject to the current Fox ESS warranty terms and correct installation, commissioning and use.
