The Fox ESS CQ7 7.02kWh Master Battery (CQ7-M) starts a scalable Fox ESS CQ7 high-voltage battery system. The Master combines a LiFePO₄ battery module with the system controller / BMS required to manage the complete CQ7 stack.

Important: This Master battery cannot operate alone. A working CQ7 system requires 1x Master plus at least 1x Slave battery, providing a minimum system capacity of 14.04kWh.
Battery sizing varies by inverter: Single-phase H1-G2, AC1-G2 and KH systems require 2-7 batteries. Three-phase H3 Smart systems require 3-12 batteries; H3 Pro requires 4-12 batteries per stack and supports up to 2 stacks; and H3 Plus requires 4-14 batteries per stack and supports up to 3 stacks. Each stack requires its own Master battery.

Fox ESS CQ7 7.02kWh Master Battery – CQ7-M
Build a high-performance, scalable energy storage system with the Fox ESS CQ7 7.02kWh Master Battery. Designed for compatible Fox ESS high-voltage hybrid and AC-coupled inverters, the CQ7 uses safe lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery chemistry in a modular, floor-standing design.
The CQ7 Master combines a 7.02kWh battery module with the system controller / Battery Management System required to manage the complete battery stack. Additional CQ7 Slave batteries are connected in series to increase voltage and storage capacity as required.
Important: The CQ7 Master cannot operate as a standalone 7.02kWh system. Every working CQ7 stack requires 1x Master and at least 1x Slave battery, giving a minimum nominal capacity of 14.04kWh.
Compatibility: CQ7 system size depends on the connected Fox ESS inverter. Always check the exact inverter model, firmware and current Fox ESS compatibility guidance before ordering.

How the stacks are built: Every stack requires 1x CQ7-M Master battery, with CQ7-S Slave batteries added to reach the required stack size. Therefore, a two-battery stack contains 1x Master and 1x Slave; a three-battery stack contains 1x Master and 2x Slaves; and a four-battery stack contains 1x Master and 3x Slaves.
Multiple stacks: H3 Pro can support up to two stacks and H3 Plus can support up to three. Each separate stack requires its own Master battery. Larger stacks may require the optional Fox ESS base to split the modules into two columns.

Installation and Monitoring

Expanding an existing system: Fox ESS requires the state of charge of existing and newly added batteries to be closely matched. The manual specifies a maximum SOC difference of ±5% and advises that the manufacture date of an added battery should not exceed 12 months. Confirm expansion suitability before ordering.

The Emlite ECA2 bi-directional generation meter is required for PV installations with hybrid battery storage and to replace existing old meters if DC storage is retrofitted.
For example, if you are replacing a standard SolaX X1 Boost Solar Inverter for a SolaX X1 Hybrid Inverter for battery storage, you must also replace the generation meter for one of these bi-directional meters.
The Emlite ECA2 bi-directional generation meter displays three different readings: Import, Export and Net (import deducted from Export.)
OFGEM guidance says that any DC coupled battery system on a FiT installation which has the ability to charge from the AC (regardless of whether it is set up or not) must have a bi-directional meter installed in order to claim the FiT.

How does the Solar iBoost+ Work?
