What is a Microinverter?
A microinverter is device that connects to a single solar panel, converting DC (direct current) from the panel into AC (alternating current) for use in your home.
Unlike a string inverter, micro inverters control the output of a single panel meaning they are ideal for small PV arrays or systems that suffer from a lot of shading issues.
Microinverter VS. String Inverter – Which is right for me?
If you have a simple roof and do not suffer from major shading issues, we recommend opting for a standard String Inverter thanks to the simplicity and cost of installation and on-going maintenance.
Microinverters are the better choice if your system design is more complex, for example if your panels receive shading issues throughout the day. It work out slightly more expensive, but it’ll enable you to effectively maximise the efficiency of each individual Solar Panel.
