Overview
The AlphaESS SMILE-G3 4.8kWh Heated Battery Module is designed for seamless integration with the Smile G3 hybrid inverter system. Up to six modules can be connected in series to provide a total storage capacity of 28.8kWh. With its modular plug-and-play design, IP65-rated casing and integrated heating system, it delivers reliable performance even in cold climates while maintaining a clean, compact appearance alongside the Smile G3 Hybrid Inverter.
Warranty: As per the AlphaESS Warranty document – “It is required that all systems have internet connection for monitoring. Systems that are not connected to the internet will have their warranty reduced to 3 years”.
Battery Limits and Compatibility
Up to six of these 4.8kWh batteries can be connected to the Smile G3 Hybrid Inverter, giving a total storage capacity of 28.8kWh. Accounting for the 95% Depth of Discharge, this equates to a usable capacity of 27.36kWh – ample for the average UK home.

The Emlite ECA2 bi-directional generation meter is required for PV installations with hybrid battery storage and to replace existing old meters if DC storage is retrofitted.
For example, if you are replacing a standard SolaX X1 Boost Solar Inverter for a SolaX X1 Hybrid Inverter for battery storage, you must also replace the generation meter for one of these bi-directional meters.
The Emlite ECA2 bi-directional generation meter displays three different readings: Import, Export and Net (import deducted from Export.)
OFGEM guidance says that any DC coupled battery system on a FiT installation which has the ability to charge from the AC (regardless of whether it is set up or not) must have a bi-directional meter installed in order to claim the FiT.
